In Nur-Sultan, the workshop for NIS Career and Guidance Counselors, organized by the Department for Educational Quality Assessment and International Accreditation in conjunction with CIS (Council of International Schools), has ended. Representatives of Kazakhstani and foreign universities and organizations were invited to the workshop.
The main theme of the workshop was the improvement of career guidance in Intellectual schools. Gaukhar Dyuzelbaeva from NU and Dastan Seitkazin from the Swiss Education Group spoke about the rules for admission to Nazarbayev University and Swiss higher educational institutions. Representative of BTS Education Almas Kigizbaev dedicated his speech to the Atlas of professions, which is being created in Kazakhstan. Aliya Abkenova, an employee of the Corporate Communications Department, analyzed how to help students choose a profession.
Representatives of CIS and several foreign CIS member universities dedicated their speeches to such priority topics as “Developing strong school profiles”, “Demonstration of the CIS portal”, “Case studies of students applying to US universities and “Writing recommendation letters”.
At the panel session, the workshop participants received answers from Katryn Snow (CIS), Liam McCartney (Boston University), Skye Rust (Columbia College of Chicago), Andre Kostosov (Northeastern University), Iuliia Iurina (American University in Bulgaria) and Charlene Chang (University of British Columbia) to the most popular questions.
NIS Career and Guidance Counselors also visited the International Education exhibition organized by CIS.
